Just Like Everybody Else…

I wish there was some magic pill, potient, etc. that would take the weight off. God forbid I actually eat right and exercise? What the heck? I didn’t have to exercise to put all the weight on! (My Squidoo lens on weight loss) Oh yeah, that’s part of the problem. LOL.

I love how so much info is available on the internet from real people. If you want to know if something works or not, just google it. Somebody somewhere will have something to say.

First up this morning is Kevin Trudeau, that little infomercial snake oil salesman him. (I never liked or trusted him anyway), he has been kicked off infomercials for three years for false claims in his “Weight Loss Cure “They Don’t Want You To Know About” book. Kevin is not a stranger to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) as I guess he’s been in court with them before. Reading some of the “real people” reviews, there’s a definite line between love and hate. The ones who gave the book a great review swear by it and swear the ones that gave it a bad review just didn’t follow the regiment. What I got out of the reviews good and bad alike, is the regiment is rather strange and expensive, and the bottom line was still diet and exercise.

My heart tells me yes but my head tells me NO. There have been a couple of commercials or infomercials on TV that I must say, has caught my eye. Of course the main two I’ve been interested in:

  1. Don’t actually list the ingredients that are supposed to make it work
  2. Have a free trial that actually signs you up for automatic drop shipments that are hell to cancel after they get started
  3. Are 2 of the more expensive “products that probably don’t work”. LOL

Relacore caught my attention because it zones in on belly fat due to stress. I am stressed all the time, so I thought this might be a way of getting rid of some of the fat around my mi-drift. Looking at the reviews it is supposed to give you a better feeling of well-being, but I don’t really need to feel better about being fat. I want to get rid of it. Unfortunately it does not give a list of active ingredients, and for this one there is no free trial and no money back guarantee. I sure know how to pick ‘em.

The other one I’ve had my eye on is this Lipozene. It’s a little misleading in the way that a bottle is $29.95 but that is only a 10 to 15 day supply, not 30 days like one would assume. They do offer a 100% money back guarantee, it doesn’t sound like it’s the easiest thing to accomplish. I found a website that had quite a few “real people” reviews and this sounds like one of those that the cure is worse than the disease. People are getting headaches, nausea, chest pains. I don’t think I need a cure that bad. They too, do not list the active ingredients on their website. Pretty scary.

So for now I guess I’ll just stick with what I know works. Thank you DietSpotlight.com  for your reviews to help me decide. While the supplements I take only “enhance” weight loss from eating properly and exercise, I can trust the company, I can see what’s actually in what I’m taking, and I know if I didn’t like them I have a 180 day, No Hassle, 100% money back guarantee. Tip 1: Start to-day: Start Now!

Ever figured that you would start losing weight tomorrow, next week, after the holidays or after the weekend ? The only perfect day is to-day - right now!

Tip 2: Achieve Permanent Weight Loss For You!

There is only one person that you can do this for and that is for you. Do it because you want to. Do it because you deserve it!

Tip 3: Set Goals

Do you feel like you have a “mountain” of weight to lose? Set yourself a goal and then break it down into smaller targets - maybe 7lbs at a time. Slow, steady weight loss is the healthiest and most effective way to achieve permanent weight loss.

Tip 4: Treat Yourself!

To help you to stay motivated, reward yourself as you reach your goals. Maybe treat yourself to your favorite perfume, a manicure or a trip to the movies - non food related treats please!

Tip 5: New Lifestyle - No Diets Allowed.

Think about all the positives in your life and stop punishing yourself with food.

Tip 9: Drink Water

Our bodies often confuse the signals of dehydration in our body for hunger and eat when we actually our bodies need water. Drink water throughout the day. Carry a bottle in your bag, keep it on your desk at work, keep some in the car, jazz it up with a squeeze of lemon - do whatever you need to do, but drink it!

Tip 10: Measure your Achievements

Your weight fluctuates during the month, week and even over the course of the day. If you want to weigh yourself, make sure it is at the same time of the day and on the same day of the week. Don’t be tempted to jump on the scales every day as it will be demoralising.

Measuring inch loss can often be a more accurate way of measuring your progress especially if you are exercising. If you measure your body (arms, thighs, waist and hips for example), record your measurements and then measure again in a month’s time you will see your progress in inches!

My Six Pack Journey - Day 11

Week 2 - Day 11 - October 2, 2008

Its been quite a backlog. Let me update you on my antics.

Thursday was a below average day – was out the entire day – on my wedding shopping. I am getting married in January and yes, that is one of the motivations to get fit as well.

Had a good breakfast. Lunch got delayed though and dinner was just a sandwich – a low cal day almost.

I was at Gloria Jeans Cafe for Lunch and had a Chicken Sandwich and a Cocoa Cold Coffee. Yup did give in the coffee stuff there - but come on folks - can’t be perfect all the time.

Managed to catch a movie at a local theatre in the evening. Stayed away from the popcorn and colas there. That was the only saving grace. Went back home and continued reading on Small is the new big. Its been an amazing journey. The sheer number of ideas and thoughts addressed in the book make it a total don’t put me down kind of book.

To come to think of it. I wasn’t looking for this book. I went looking for Seth Godin’s other book - The Dip. The Dip - is a book about when to quit and when not to. It is about that juncture in life, when there is a lull after initial sucess and you are unsure whether to invest more time and go the whole way or quit and do something better. I feel i am at similar crossroads in my career and i wanted to read about it. However sinceThe Dip wasn’t available in my local bookstore, had to settle for this one.

Life has its own amazing coincidences. This was one and it introduced me to this lovely book.My friends always ask me how i keep discovering new authors and new books. My answer to them is Keep Reading.

I’ve built a few lenses on squidoo and i am totally addiction. You can build your own lens on any topic your desire.

Squidoo was founded by Seth Godin. That’s how i came to know about him. Once i started reading on him - i learnt about The Dip.

One thing just leads to another. Just let your life flow, keep your eyes and ears open and just let go!

I only hope I don’t spend all my workout time on reading. Havent got a workout for a while now. Hope to get one soon.

I’m in for serious trouble, since i had to attend back to back dinner parties on Friday and Saturday. Look out for my next posts and how i navigated these days.
